  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced Neuro ICU nurses for a travel contract.
  • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience.
    • Job Requirements
    • 2 years of ICU experience preferred.
    • Experience with CVA, ICB, neuro surgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology, ventriculostomies.
    • Experience with line insertions.
      • Schedule Information
      • 12 hr shifts
      • Shift starts 645
      • Report is at the bedside
      • OT and extra shifts are available
      • Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it
      • Schedules are out 4 weeks
      • Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit: Neuro ICU - McAuley ICU
        • # beds: 20
        • Ratios: 1:1 - 2
        • EMR: Cerner
        • Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief
        • Nurse Aides: Yes as Safety Attendants (sitters)
        • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
        • Holidays: Rotate in with core staff
        • Scrub Color: Navy - undershirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy
        • Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
        • Vents: Yes
        • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes
        • IV Team: No
        • RT 24/7: Yes
        • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes and ICU Pharmacy open during dayshift
        • Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen
        • Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor
        • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: CVA, ICB, neuro surgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology, ventriculostomies
          • Additional Details
          • Modules are required done before start. Modules take 3-4 hours -not billable
          • For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays
          • Managers will make the final call on scheduling
          • Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed
          • PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYS EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH UNA IS REQUIRED
          • If your traveler fails the 2nd attempt, they will be made DNU for CommonSpirit AZ and Sac
